They are the band that created their name from watching Forrest Gump. Selling four million albums and ten million singles in just four years, The Script has been making themselves known worldwide since 2008. This mixture of hip-hop, rock, and soul is all tied together by the production of Danny O'Donoghue's vocals.

"It's hard when you're in the band to define what your sound is, we just make music we love," said Mark Sheehan, guitarist.

The band first made their debut in 2008 with their self-titled album "The Script," topping off UK's album charts at number one. The Script hit platinum with their hit single, "Breakeven," after selling over 1,000,000 copies.

"I really like them and I like the words that they choose. The whole vibe of the song gets to you," said Andrea Ramirez, junior.

Not everything was fun and fame. That same year, tragedy struck the Irish rock band. O'Donoghue's father had died on February 14 of a stomach aneurysm and Sheehan's mother died ten months after being diagnosed with cancer. Hearts shattered, the band turned to music for therapy.

"It got me through… Everything he'd taught me went into the album… every piece of that pain and hurt. The only justification there is for pain is art," said O'Donoghue.

The Dubliners fought on and released another album in 2010 entitled "Science and Faith". This blend of rock, alternative, pop, and indie debuted at number three on U.S. charts, selling more than four million albums. Fans rave on how true The Script is to their sound and their lyrics.

"I like them because the lyrics to their songs actually mean something, but it sounds good too, so it's a good combination," said Mahaa Noorani, freshman.

The Script's latest album, "#3," was released in the United States in October of 2012, containing singles such as "Hall of Fame," "Six Degrees of Separation," "If You Could See Me Now," and "Millionaires."

"We met a lot of people who don't have a hall of fame… we were like "wouldn't it be amazing if they had a hall of fame, you know, that they could actually achieve, not through fame or not through notoriety but through doing something special…," said O'Donoghue about the song "Hall of Fame" featuring Will.I.Am.

To this day, The Script remains true to their lyrics.

"Each song takes you through an emotion. We really try to make the listener feel the emotion in the song. We deal with the big themes of the heart- love, loss, and separation. So we try to take the listener on a journey and resonate that emotion within them that we feel while we perform or write it," Glen Power, drums.
