Every senior involved in football games is honored at the football Senior Night. This commemorates seniors involved in the cheerleading squad, Lionettes, Lion Keepers, Lion Band, the Navy Junior ROTC and of course the varsity football team. Senior Night was held on October 31, 2013

For some seniors it's a time to remember everything they've done and as a way to look into the future optimistically. It is with an attitude like that that defines the spirit of R.L. Turner.

"Senior Night wasn't like people usually think it'll be: crying and sadness. For me, it was more of a time to think back and 'Whoa! Four years ago I was barely starting to wet my feet and now I'm swimming to bigger and better waters.' It was a good time to reminisce on everything I've accomplished and a time of excitement because I'm so ready for what the real world has in store for me." said Lesly Garcia, senior Lionette captain.

Of course, it is human to feel melancholy when everyone's name is being called out by the announcer. It's the last home high school football game they will be participating in! It's only natural to be weary. Rest assured, everyone had a great run.

"It's a bitter sweet reality - realizing it's the last time I would set foot at Standridge Stadium with my fellow band seniors for a football game was really sad, but it means that the previous four years were well worth the effort." said Karina Zuniga, band president.

Once a Lion, Always a Lion

The varsity football team played a rough game, but it was hard-fought. The ending score was 70-13 with touchdowns made by Christian Wolford in the second quarter and Bruttus Walters in the fourth quarter.

"You don't really feel it until it's gone. It's so surreal that I won't be playing at Standridge anymore. You don't realize what you've go until it's gone, " said Jefferson Roark, senior football player.
