Turner Today
By Jessica Gallardo
It is a new year at R.L. Turner which means there’s a new class of freshmen students. These first year students are learning the ropes of their new high school. Not only have the students been adjusting to their new school hours but they have also been adjusting to new people, new hallways and new teachers.
“It was smoother than expected” Jeanette Gallardo said.
We caught up with the freshmen to see how they transitioned from middle school to high school. While some students felt the transition was fairly easy others had a harder time adjusting.
“There’s harder classes” said Mark Torres.
Going to high school also means leaving behind middle school, friends, teachers and other things students would never expect to miss. Mark Torres said he misses “some of my old friends”.
“I missed how small it was because I knew everybody,” said Abigail Garcia.
Despite all the struggles that these students have come to face, they have successfully made the switch from school to another. These new R.L. Turner Lions will, in four years, become the R.L. Turner graduates of 2017.
